I have some inklings for resisting Micro Time, yet undeveloped: Re-Wiring (changing the protocols), Conversion (translate between machine speed and human speed) and Attunement (syncing yourself to machine rhythms where it does not matter to create independence where it does matter).

Following Nils Gilman’s concept of “Structured Anticipation” would require approaching Micro Time from several angles simultaneously: Agency (Who can make decisions here?), Structure (Which historic path dependencies make it happen?) and Contingency (Where is Randomness and Chance happening?). My talk focused mostly on structure, I did not touch the other angles yet.

Micro Time seems to be the emerging regime of our present, but it is still hard to see for the lay person. It’s an “this is still early” situation though, so forcing urgency where there is none (yet) would be wrong. Making this development and its implications tangible is needed. How does Micro Time FEEL like?

Started thinking about building an essay from the ideas I developed for my talk “Time moves down the Stack” at Protocol Institute’s 2026 Symposium. Some tentative ideas to follow.
